We make our own compost, cut our own firewood, do small amounts of maple production using buckets and tend to the infrastructure, land and people living here every day. Seasonal Gardener
Looking for a seasonal gardener for the 2023 season looking to live an eco-conscious lifestyle!
Seeking an experienced (or enthusiastic) live-in gardener to help with vegetable, flower and perennial gardens from April - October. The position includes a beautiful off-grid cabin, access to a community kitchen with shower, cooking facilities, wifi, sauna, art studio and swimming ponds on a large, private piece of land located only 8 minutes from the town Johnson, VT. Space is available to grow your own crops as well as develop & co-create community enrichment activities like workshops or classes for those applicants that are qualified & interested in innovating the position and generating additional value.
The Garden House or another off-grid dwelling will come in exchange for 10 labor hours per week dedicated to gardening, cultivation, harvest, storage, processing, and gardening infrastructure maintenance. An additional 10 hours per week of labor may be possible for hourly wage.

In addition to seasonal opportunities, Awakening Mountain has limited space for new community members to come and live. You can learn more about the community life at Awakening Mountain here and should know that folks interested in joining the community at Awakening Mountain will be asked to schedule a 2 week Work Retreat as an orientation and probation period to allow the community to feel into living together. A Work Retreat will provide accommodations, access to stored produce, gardens and wild food and will require 15 hours of work per week at Awakening Mountain and 5 hours of time devoted to community engagement.
